11月末,在国际赛事“世界学者杯”为期两天的北京区域赛中,由吴老师、于老师、张老师带领30名凯文学子参赛,共夺回68金59银、6座奖杯,以及9组“2024全球轮”的晋级名额,成绩喜人。其中2组是来自凯文小学部的小选手们。

朝阳凯文部分获奖者学生现场掠影
世界学者杯(the World Scholar’s Cup)
源于美国,是受到耶鲁大学官方支持的全球中学生学术奥林匹克 。每年有来自140多个全球城市的5万名代表参与到这场学术盛宴中。
朝阳凯文在授课理念中,一直将“活学、乐学”贯穿始终,这恰恰与“世界学者杯”的竞赛主旨相吻合。每年世界学者杯会都会围绕一个主题,通过探究式学习等独特的学习方式,展开对科学、社会学、历史、艺术、文学、通识等六大学科领域的深度探究与竞技。从而启发青年学者们对不同学科的兴趣,培养团队合作、国际沟通、创新与思辨等核心素养,成就未来学者与领袖。
据于老师介绍,自9月28日起,参赛选手们就在两位老师的陪同下,利用每周CAS课的时间开始了长达两个月的备赛。此外,小组成员经常利用休息时间举行线上线下会议,自主自发地进行知识分享。

不仅是参加国际赛事的目的,
也是朝阳凯文一直引导学生的方向。
参赛小组是由学生们自由组成的,三人一组,自己分配学科,谁负责科学,谁负责文学,谁负责艺术……完全由学生们自行掌控与支配,将朝阳凯文学子们的自驱力展现得淋漓尽致。
“ 在赛前准备阶段中,每个学生的学习方式也是不同的,有的会用思维导图梳理知识网络;有的在研读学习指南基础上查阅资料,并制作Quizlet词卡……朝阳凯文的老师们都是非常尊重学生们的学习习惯,所以,我和于老师并没有硬性要求学生要用某一种方式去学习。备赛过程中,我们侧重于教授学习方法和技巧,具体知识点方面都是鼓励学生们自己来分享。
作为指导老师,在指导学生们备赛的过程中,我们有目的的发挥学生们的主观能动性,这不仅是一场比赛,更是一次深刻的学习之旅,希望通过这样的学术旅途帮助孩子们更好地适应,甚至缔造未来的社会环境。”

这就是“勇爱智适”!
有一个小小的身影,却彰显了大大的能量,他就是六年级的邢宬悦。
在辩论环节,由于个人表现突出,被选为辩论展示环节的队员之一,和来自不同学校的四名学生现场临时组队。邢宬悦担任了反方的四辩,在队员们首次合作、互不了解的情况下,他需要去组织并总结所有人的讨论与观点,同时还要给别人提供建议。发言时也是掷地有声、泰然自若。他的精彩表现向公众展示了朝阳凯文的智慧与勇气。
英文就是凯文学子的那双翅膀。
比赛中所有的项目,包括流程,全部都是全英文的。比如学生们需要阅读全英文的学科材料,并要基于这些材料自己去延展,同时再去读一些课外的相关知识,无论是他们的讨论、写作、答题等,都需要用英语输入且输出。所以对于参赛者来说,流畅的学术英语表达是世界学者杯闯关的基本要求。

“世界学者杯”的吉祥物是羊驼,作为特色环节,每位参与者都会在“羊驼领养仪式”上获得一只毛绒羊驼。同时,才艺表演的环节也是十分受欢迎的。才艺表演不计入竞技成绩,但却是世界学者杯必不可少的环节,同学们自由报名参加。才艺表演形式灵活多样,可以是特长表演,也可以是特别技能的展现,或是一个奇思异想。总之,无论成绩如何,有一点是肯定的, 就是参赛者们的团队合作能力、思辨能力、沟通能力等都会得到提高。

朝阳凯文小学部此次有9名学生参加了竞赛,虽然年纪尚小,但依然获得了个人奖4金8银、团队晋级“2024全球赛“的好成绩!

“参加跨学科的国际比赛对国际学校学生的好处不可言喻。首先,这不仅仅是对学科知识的检验,更是对学生综合素养的全面培养。学生在比赛中需要迅速运用不同学科知识解决问题,培养了跨学科思维能力。其次,比赛注重合作与团队协作,锻炼学生的沟通和领导力,使他们更好地适应未来多元化的工作环境。此次我也有幸成为今年比赛的辩论裁判,既让我深刻领略了辩论的精髓,更为未来辅导学生和教学提供了宝贵的启示。
此次带队参赛的同时,我还担任了辩论环节的评委。说心里话,当时我是非常紧张的,因为我可以看到各校参赛选手们的表现。后期当我得知简嘉仅仅是写作就拿了全场第九名时兴奋不已,这是我没有想到的。因为毕竟有30个学校参赛,我们一个学校就去了30个学生,这个占比可想而知。我很欣慰,想想他们赛前付出了那么多,一切都值得了! ”

“Being the last debater to speak is not easy. In fact, it is the hardest part of all, since it can change the entire outcome of the debate. I was the last speaker, and I was as nervous as I could be when I was about to speak in the last debate.
It was incredibly hard to do what I did. I am so lucky that I made good notes!
Next time, while I was debating, I could definitely try to be more confident and less nervous to make my point more convincing. Also, I could try to not stagger. Maybe I can try to get more hand gestures and emotions across as well. Finally, I could speak faster, since I did not have time to deliver all my points across, and I do not want to be cut off mid-speech again.“

“Our team has tried our best in debates and collaborative writing, and we could have made a further progress in Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s challenge. To be specific, revising on the 6 subjects more deelpy and acknowledge the basic information can be crucial for us. In this way, we could boost up our team’s overall strength.
At the awarding ceremony, all our secondary school students have successfully been promoted, waiting for the quarter final. During this two-day competition, scholars not only gained knowledge and skills, but also friendship both inside and outside of school.

Moment of Glory丨All CKWA Teams Achieved Eye-catching Results in WSC Beijing Round, advancing into Global Round.
Participating in international competitions not only brings motivation to learn knowledge, but also the incentives to share knowledge with others.
At the end of November, competition of the World Scholar’s Cup, known as the “Global Scholars Feast”, CKWA Grade 8 student Jina Jian and Grade 9 student Eric Zhou from the International Curriculum Program respectively won the third and fifth place with the Champion Scholars Award in the Beijing Round.
Ms. Joan Wu、Ms. Aviva Yu and Ms. Jenny led 30 CKWA students to participate in this competition, achieving remarkable results, with a total of 68 gold and 59 silver medals, 6 trophies, and 9 teams being qualified for the 2024 Global Round.
Developing students’ thinking skills and stimulating their learning incentives has never been the one and only purpose of participating in international competitions. It is also the direction that Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy has always guided students towards. Students worked in groups of three and subjects were assigned independently. The whole preparation process was self-managed by the students. This has showcased the inner drive of CKWA students to the fullest.
Staying calm in the face of danger fully demonstrates CKWA spirits, Courage, Kindness, Wisdom, and Adaptability! During the debate session, there was a small figure who displayed great energy, and he was Chengyue XING from sixth grade. Although the team was temporarily formed and it was the first time for team members to collaborate, he summarized viewpoints of every teammate efficiently, and spoke confidently and calmly. His brilliant performance showcased the wisdom and courage of CKWA students to the public.
English provides the wings for CKWA students to soar. The whole competition, including processes, was delivered in English. In addition to reading subject materials in full English, participants also need to read some materials outside the classroom. Discussions, writing, and answering questions all requires the input and output in English. So, for participants, fluent academic English expression is the basic requirement for attending the World Scholar’s Cup.

Nine students from CKWA Primary School participated in the competition. Although they were still in their junior stage, they still achieved impressive results, with 4 gold and 8 silver medals won in individual competitions, and the team having successfully advanced into the 2024 Global Round!
